She's a busy kidlet.

She'll sleep well tonight. How old is she?
Wednesday, June 19th, 2002 08:25 am (UTC)
She's 7. I'm glad they're keeping the kids *active* instead of just painting flowerpots and braiding lanyards...

Or braiding flowerpots and painting lanyards.
Wednesday, June 19th, 2002 08:43 am (UTC)
That too, of course. Or lanyarding the flowerpots.
Wednesday, June 19th, 2002 08:47 am (UTC)
Or deflowering Ms. Lanyard.

Elayna's a girl. She's not really equipped for deflowering Ms. Lanyard.

I'm just sayin'.

Man, I want to go to Elayna's camp. Do you think Craig would send me to summer camp? I miss summer.

*I* want to go to this camp. I wanna ride a pony and be in the talent show and swim every day...

No kidding. The only camp *I* ever went to was two weeks of BASIC programming (8 hours a day in front of a TRS-80....perfect Office Drone training, huh?) between fourth and fifth grades. Mom thought it would be useful. She was right. The Commodore 128 I acquired in 1984 was my willing slave. Of course, I'd be more useful now if I'd ever learned to program something other than BASIC.

I did *teach* summer science camp for three years. I think that was what finally put me off of having kids (all the kids I babysat were near-angels). I taught K-1 one year--darling children. I taught 2-3 one year--still cute and pliable, but all able to read and do basic math. I taught 4-6 the third year--by the time they hit 9, half of them are already corrupt. Teaching them photography, with nasty chemicals and all, was a crazy-making experience!

I did some form of basic on apples for two weeks one summer. About 7th grade but I'm not sure. My mind doesn't remember when things happened very well.

They never taught me how to be a Mad Scientist at camp. I'm jealous! I had to learn on my own....

In [livejournal.com profile] mousegrrl's proposed webcomic, Miscellaneous Debris, we were going to cast [livejournal.com profile] stronae as a mad scientist and Elayna as his lab assistant, as she's a walking Beacon of Luck. So we were going to have [livejournal.com profile] stronae begging us to let her stay up late to help in the lab, because otherwise everything would blow up. And we were going to have her wear a way-oversized lab coat, goggles, and big Playtex kitchen gloves.

Eeeeehehe. It's just as well -- my mere presence alternately 'fixes' computers or 'breaks' them in real life, so it's not much of a stretch to split the difference and hand one to each. Plus, I don't interact with Elayna enough, so it'll be neat to see my character rounding out those edges.

Elayna likes you - I think you'd get along well. :)

i'm still planning on doing Miscellaneous Debris too, just so ya know... =) still have all the notes and stuff.

I wanna go! I was forced to go to a church camp when I was about 10, but the schedule was more like "Bible Study and more Bible Study, then Prayer Time."

Oh, ew! Very sorry. :(
