*wave*

This may be the only time I post; the hotel charges $9.99/day for 'net access, poo! But we had stuff to do online already, so I'm being naughty.

Well, I've been being naughty this whole time. But. Anyway.

I did the going-back-to-old-haunts thing yesterday. I didn't fall apart. Yeah, I cried at one point. But I didn't fall apart. And I was right in feeling that I needed this; I truly did. No longer will the past loom over me like a big loomy thing.

THAT will be a post on its own, when I have time to do it justice!

Otherwise... we are having a most excellent time. Did WAY too much walking yesterday! Avoided sunburn. The Hilton is the hardest hotel in Vegas to get to,I swear, but totally worth it because we got tribbles there. Tribbles that vibrate and gibber like caffeinated toddlers when you beat them up. And a t-shirt with the cutest little sanrio-ified Klingon evar.

Yes.

Oh! Oh! Oh! So they have these little trading-size cards, right? And they have call-girl pics on them. And phone numbers. They're ads. They're cute. And they're stuck in every available surface on the strip.

So Volta and I are treating this as a collectible card game.

We have like 6 Keris, if anyone wants one. We can trade you for a Monica. We only got one Monica.

Okay. He's whacking a tribble (that sounds SO WRONG) and eyeing me impatiently, so we hafta go down and buy show tickets now. Just... I'm having verymuch fun. *hugs* Bye!

EDIT: No, we're not staying at the Hilton; we're staying at Luxor.

I am decidedly groovy right now from wine.

Hell is the Hard Rock Hotel. In case you were wondering. But the cure for hell is apparently dinner at a very nice steakhouse with absolutely impeccable service.

Volta is on the potty, so I am on the laptop. La!

Tomorrow we go see Penn & Teller. Sunday, spa stuff; facial and a "sea salt glow" for me, and river rock massage for him. Which I may go for on Monday if he finds it totally orgasmic. I've never had spa stuff ever ever before, but I am having the deluxe treatment in general this week, so yes! spa. Also Sunday we are going to Aureole. I'd link you direct, but I got no clue how to open a new tab on his browser. Sad Christmas. You can look it up if you care - it's linked off of MandalayBay.com. [livejournal.com profile] theferrett readers - it's the one he wrote about a bit ago, with the four-story wine tower. Very shiny.

[livejournal.com profile] volta, at dinner: "One of these days I am going to break your brain more than you break mine."
Me: "I doubt that very muchly."

For those who get concerned about this stuff: I am eating regularly, and I have not neglected to take my medication. Go me!

Okay. Going now. :)

Yay for Shadesong!

I must confess, that since I read your entry about the incident, I felt truly sick for you, and wondered if going back was a good thing.

But it is! And that's even better! Yay!
Friday, June 11th, 2004 11:15 pm (UTC)
Yeah, trust me...I thought long and hard about whether it would be harmful to me. And I'm glad I did it...
Friday, June 11th, 2004 03:10 pm (UTC)
I have a tribble like that somewhere in a box. It purrs when you pet it and SCREAMS like a cat in heat when you squeeze it. My 'twin' Jason got me one for my birthday when we were 16. I love my 'twin' because he's wacky enough to think a memorable sweet 16 gift is a tribble.

Glad to hear you're having a good time and that it's been an over all good experiance for you. I hope this helps bring you the healing and closure you need from that time in your life.

Peace, love, and tribbles.
Friday, June 11th, 2004 11:32 pm (UTC)
I am extraordinarily fortunate to have many people in my life who understand the perfectness of tribbles as a gift.
Saturday, June 12th, 2004 12:02 pm (UTC)
Heh - I once had a boyfriend that made me a tribble for Christmas. It purred and everything! Apparently he had his mum teach him how to sew just for the occasion! Sadly it got lost in one of my many moves.... :(

I'm glad you're having a good time and all is well. Sometimes we need to revisit and have tea with our demons in order to let them go.

And major giggles about the "trading cards." When Ron and I went down there last summer to get married, we walked a lot and he always took the cards from the guys standing on the sidewalks and from whatever surface was available. I think we still have them around here somewhere. :p
Friday, June 11th, 2004 11:33 pm (UTC)
Regarding tea with demons: Yes, exactly so!

Regarding the cards: I may actually get back into my ArtStuff with these. Mixed media/found objects stuff. I am INSPIRED.

I pulled a group card for the world at large today and got the Wanderjahr, the journey, the restlessness, the seeing of things and the walking and the drinking in and the creating of forever-memories to set down for the balance of a life.

No surprises. I wonder how many other people are on journeys, or about to set out on them?

I'm glad to hear you're having a good time, arii. :)

Lots and lots of folks. Literal and metaphorical.

*Currently plotting her own Seattle-Vegas/Laughlin-San Diego trip next month...*
Friday, June 11th, 2004 11:35 pm (UTC)
I am thoroughly unsurprised re: the Wanderjahr; I know a few people who are on theirs right now. Kires, for example, is on a self-described cross-country visionquest...
Friday, June 11th, 2004 04:15 pm (UTC)
*Giggle* You're staying at the Star Trek Experience? Cool!

I'm glad you're having fun. :) *hugs*
Friday, June 11th, 2004 11:36 pm (UTC)
Nope - Luxor! If the Hilton actually had Trek *rooms*, we would totally be staying there. That would so rock.

How are *you* doing? With the Taedg thing?
Saturday, June 12th, 2004 12:40 am (UTC)
Tadhg is doing okay... very tired cause he's working. They are done with the funeral and stuff. Unlikely he'll be coming down this month. I'll see him in San Diego. He miiight come down this summer, but probably not until DragonCon.

Tuesday, June 15th, 2004 03:28 pm (UTC)
*fierce hugs*
Friday, June 11th, 2004 04:22 pm (UTC)
I'm so glad you're having a good time.

Maybe the call-girl cards will be the next Magic:The Gathering! *Grin*

my favorite game to play in vegas is to walk from fremont to the strip(or vice versa) and count the number of matress stores....well it was entertaining when i was drunk.
Friday, June 11th, 2004 05:51 pm (UTC)
we did the Collect-A-Callgirl card thing last summer when we stopped in Vegas on the way back from [livejournal.com profile] tyrsalvia's wedding... Fox even stopped some of the people sticking them in chainlink fences around construction projects to see if they had any different ones! =)

i'm glad this trip is being good to you. ::hugs!!::
Friday, June 11th, 2004 11:39 pm (UTC)
The people putting them on the fences are *artists*, man, seriously. Beautiful pictures with these things! I took photos.

Yeah, re: it being different: the Strip is freakin' Epcot, man! Epcot with Call Girl Cards. But *my* Vegas hasn't changed almost at all. Some cafes have closed, but... it's pretty unchanging, unchangeable.
Friday, June 11th, 2004 05:59 pm (UTC)
Bwahahaha! Vegas does the collectible call-girl cards, too??!!?! So does London, England! Or they did back in '92. I've still got one that I grabbed from a call box. I stuck it in the carved box that also holds my tarot cards. :)
Friday, June 11th, 2004 11:40 pm (UTC)
*imagines divination via Call Girl Card*
Friday, June 11th, 2004 06:06 pm (UTC)
Glad the trip is being worth your while, S.

L o L,
wishes you well

So Volta and I are treating this as a collectible card game.

It may interest you to know that some Brits (a land where, like another reader commented, these things are found inside their telephone boothes) wrote the rules to a CCG with these cards.

And put it online
Tuesday, June 15th, 2004 11:03 am (UTC)
You know, I really should have nown that

a. someone would already have written one and
b. you would know about it.

'tis like I'm the root of all evil, ain't it?

Wait that would make me money, right?

Ooooo, shiny money.

Or, come to think of it, the thing to tried to kill Buffy.

I don't want to kill Buffy. She's friends with Willow and would make the Rosenberg lass all sad. Plus, it's been done. Like, twice.

I think I'm better off being money. Except, y'know, maybe not the spare change. I'm pretty sure the copper in pennies would make my butt look fat. Hmm, I better check.

*duct tapes pennies to butt*

Noooo . . . doesn't look any fatter than usual. Maybe it's 'cause they make these things mostly out of zinc now. I guess zinc is slimming.

*rips off penny duct tape*

Aieee!!! Lincoln, why do you harm me so? First you free the slaves, now you harm my backside?

. . . maybe I should try to sleep more often.
Saturday, June 12th, 2004 06:20 am (UTC)
I was just thinking of that. I was thinking "I wonder if she's keeping a food log. Well, she's with [livejournal.com profile] volta, so he'll make sure she's eating on time and enough, at least."

Have a ball, take pictures, put on sunscreen... eat your veggies? Whatever; you have your own Jewish mom. *grin*
Tuesday, June 15th, 2004 11:01 am (UTC)
I kept a food log as well - with little checkmarks next to meals where I took my meds. :)
Saturday, June 12th, 2004 03:15 pm (UTC)
Glad you are having such a fantabulous time. And eating. And letting go of what needs letting go, and renewing connection with that which you love.
And yeah, I've played the call-girl card game in England as well!!! LMAO.

I love the Luxor. Don't they have a fetish night tonight?

have fun! and take care!
Tuesday, June 15th, 2004 03:32 pm (UTC)
Fetish night? Dude! Sadly, I do notr think that this is true....

Yeah, I've got some complicated processing to do - but this was overwhelmingly a Good and Right and Necessary Thing. *hugs*
