Middle of the week, halfway to the weekend, yay!

Things that have happened recently that suck that I have not written about: had a minor altercation with a belligerent asshole (I took a spot the considered his - well, he was backing up as if to parallel park and didn't have his blinker on) who actually followed me most of the way home, tailgating and honking (got me rattled enough to drive around the neighborhood a bit to make sure I'd lost him, then put the car in the carport overnight), had a gas main at the house directly across from us blow - we were safe, but they had our driveway blocked from before-5 to after-11 at least, and I had to navigate around the twisty streets in our neighborhood All By Myself because [livejournal.com profile] yendi popped out to talk to the workmen, and yesterday, my Invader Zim bookbag broke! One of the plastic strap-holder thingies just snapped. And I've had the damn thing less than a month.

So we're exchanging the bookbag, and I think I'm going to need to place a Hot Topic order. They have Gir socks. And funky shoelaces. And Secret of NIMH t-shirts. And I need to see if they have cute patterned tights that I can wear under my skirts; extra layer for warmth. But they better not give me any shit about the bookbag.

I have been updating my wardrobe, slowly but surely... shopping for twirly gypsy/crinkle/broomstick/whateveryoucallem skirts on eBay. They're more flattering to my new rounded shape than slacks are...and petite slacks are *expensive* (my last pair was $70) and I don't want to keep buying more as my weight fluctuates, when I can just cinch the skirts a little more or a little less. *shrug* So if you see any pretty skirts for cheap, let me know!

Question of the day: If you were to write your autobiography, what would you title it?

That's my autobiography title. "Trauma, Experimental, & Miscellaneous".

Why yes, there is a story behind that.

When I was about 14, I decided I'd like a binder to keep my poetry in, so I went and asked my dad for one. Rather than go out and buy one, he rifled through his work-type office supplies, and found a binder there that he wasn't using.

My dad sells surgical supplies. Artificial blood vessels, sutures, stuff like that. Doesn't actually sell them so much as he convinces people that they like him, then he showers them with gifts and attention so they don't look elsewhere. (Hmm. Maybe this is part of where I learned the charisma thing?) So his binders are all about different cardiovascular-type things.

The one he handed me, with his company logo and a picture of a circulatory system, was prominently titled "Trauma, Experimental, & Miscellaneous".

Perfect.

My poetry from age 8-20 resides in there to this day.

So. What would your purely hypothetical band name be? Those who read [livejournal.com profile] jet_li_wannabe know that his is Fat Italian Jesus...

Mine is Pumpkin Spider. In the early 90s, I was watching one of those sketch comedy shows. Wish I remembered which one! Anyway, they were doing a Mister Rogers parody, very twisted, and at this one point, Mister Rogers walking down the hall and passes a bulletin board. On the bulletin board is a construction-paper pumpkin with crepe-paper arms and legs. And he points at this, says, "Pumpkin spider!" in the weirdest voice, and moves on. And I just loved it.

I've also claimed the name Driftwood Angels for a band in [livejournal.com profile] shayara. And I've claimed "I'm Two Inches Tall, and You've Got the Frog Suit" as an album name for Pumpkin Spider.

So what would you name *your* band?

So. Out of curiosity, and prompted by [livejournal.com profile] khaosworks asking the same question - how many people out there that *don't* have me listed as a friend read me on a regular basis? Reply in comments. Chances are, if you like my journal, I may like yours. :)

Life is definitely slowing down. I'm catching my breath. This is a Good Thing. I have only two things to do tonight, one thing tomorrow, one thing Friday, and I get writing time on Saturday. Oh, and I'm available on Saturday night so [livejournal.com profile] yendi can have his writing night, so if any of you want to hang out, let me know.

Girl Scout meeting on Sunday. Still waiting to hear from [livejournal.com profile] mousegrrl re: when we're doing the planning for it.

Hm. I think I'll adjust Miss Kid's wishlist some more. It's getting close to Chanukah...

My yahoomail has gone all wonky. So if I'm not responding to your comments, it's because I don't know they're there.

Grr.

Yahoo sucks.

Anyone know any tricks for getting sticker residue off a cotton T-shirt? Bastards slapped an American flag sticker on her shirt on Sept. 11, and we forgot to take it off before laundry time... should charge them the replacement cost of the shirt, dammit.

In other KidNews, she got a haircut tonight, as picture day is tomorrow. We can now see her eyes (bangs had been getting kinda long), and she looks... less wild. :) I have chosen the dark-pink-and-blue striped shirt with rhinestones and the semi-matching jeans. I just hope she keeps herself tidy until they take the picture...

So for the past few nights, I've been going through old writings... today I focused mostly on the character of Katrianna.

And I turned a page and saw something that essentially just made me go, "whoa."

I am doing some heavy mental exploration into the D/s stuff, into exactly what does it for me and why and how I can get those needs met (no, I haven't made the filter yet). And I've just now been realizing and admitting to myself some... out-of-the-ordinary things that are major erotic triggers for me.

So I turn this page and I see Katrianna getting off on one of these things (and being ashamed of it). 11 years ago.

On some level, I've always known this stuff.

I need to read more of my old stuff. This is...informative.
